Inspired by a pathworking and then a subsequent dream—this collection was started by depicting a watery vision into artistic form, and swiftly the inspiration came to produce a full set of elemental works.
In ceremonial magick, one of the first tasks of the magician is to understand, purify, harness and balance the elemental forces. In these artworks visualisations of the elemental realms have been recreated, complete with the corresponding guardians in the Hermetic tradition… although some guardians will be easier to see than others. For example, can you find the Sylph of the element Air? She’s definitely there…
Be thou therefore prompt and active as the Sylphs, but avoid frivolity and caprice; be energetic and strong like the Salamanders, but avoid irritability and ferocity; be flexible and attentive to images like the Undines, but avoid idleness and changeability; be laborious and patient like the Gnomes, but avoid grossness and avarice.
So shalt thou gradually develop the powers of thy soul, and fit thyself to command the Spirits of the elements.
